Objectives
Engineering Volunteers
Richard Boyd (studying Engineering at Emmanuel College, Cambridge) joined the Trust in field and examined the incidences and causes of Kidney Stones in Nepal, the connections with water supplies and diet.
With the help of medics at Manipal Hospital, a field trial was established to narrow down the root causes (many of which had to do with acid rain in China and India dissolving calcium in the high Himalaya) adding calcium to the water consumed untreated downstream.
People becoming dehydrated in the process suffered disproportionally.
The Trust aims to recruit able engineering volunteers to help us establish a Satellite FM radio station and to convert our 3.5 litre petrol driven Land Rover Ambulance to run on CNG.
