Advising & Assisting other Charities

For the last decade we have been experimenting with a variety of ways of helping hard hit Nepali people and believe we have learned a good deal about avoiding the pitfalls, identifying the optimal ways of assisting and the mechanics of registering, transferring funds and so on. During this time, we have been approached for advice by quite a few new comers. Our advice is free - of course - and we've helped several other charities.

Q Learning had decided to build a school in a remote part of Nepal near Everest. Purely by chance, Lesley Gosling who is driving the project learned that a colleague was a Trustee of ours and so we duly provided a briefing at short notice the day before she flew. Since then, we have advised on plans and costings, accounting transparency and transferred their funds. Their Big Hills project is progressing rapidly.

We first met Rosie Panell of FLAME in Pokhara a few years ago.

She was researching (in her own time) the potential of forging links between their micro-educational work in Pakistan and India and an equivalent in Nepal.

Rosie met several NGOs working in Nepal and visited their projects before recommending to FLAME that they support our work on Radio Education.

We are pleased to report that her colleagues agreed and subsequently made a substantial donation towards the Radio Guru project.

My Small Help got in touch with us following their visit to Pokhara. They encountered so many signs bearing our name and logo, that having decided to establish their own charity, they simply had to contact us. We were delighted to advise on registration as a charity in the UK and in Nepal and on various other issues. My Small Help is for street children in Kathmandu and has been thriving.
