Objectives Policy Advice We have advised the PM on radio education, the establishment of think tanks, re-energising state industries and the use of software in democratic party politics. We also gave advice on communications to the Democratic Party Alliance during the closing stages of the civil war.
Prachanda gave his full support whilst PM to our importing medical equipment without duties and said he would definitely support our goal of establishing a national radio station dedicated to primary, secondary and adult education. He agreed that we should be granted a broadcasting licence without charge
In the last days of his administration, we managed to put our case for radio education to an elder statesman of Nepali politics and it turned out that he had learnt English using a correspondence course which was part paper and part telephone-based. He saw the logic of our Radio Guru project and asked us to go ahead.
Sher Deuba found our talks on strengthening democratic forms, radio-based education and turning around the state industries of interest. He threw his support behind our efforts to import an ambulance and offered to help us overcome any bureacratic obstacles.
