Between Spring 2003 and Spring 2004, the Mountain
Trust raised over £5000 (100% of which was spent) for
schools with large proportions of pupils coming from the slum
communities or other low caste groups.
Recent projects supported by the Mountain Trust include:

Lokdeep School, Beni.
Provided sports equipment and school prize.

Nawa Prabhat School, Pokhara.
The school's intake comes predominantly from
the slum community nearby.
Provided sports kit, teaching materials &
classroom furniture.

Dara Pani School, Nr Naudanda.
Donated sports kit, teaching materials, school
prizes, classroom furniture and a teaching block of 5 rooms
of varrying size (4 teaching & 1 staff room).

Padampur, Nr Butwal.
Currently constructing a circular building to
provide 4 rooms for adult literacy, a youth club, family planning
and health awareness services to the village.

This is around 30% complete at present. The plan
is to sink a well and pump clean water from the building to each
house in a subsequent phase. |

Swobodh Sadhana Kendra School, Jhapa.
(School for dalits and low caste orphans.)
So far, we've provided teaching and sports equipment
and uniforms. A well and pump have been installed and a toilet
block is currently nearing completion.
